Day 7: Zion National Park
We woke up in La Verkin in Utah which is about 30 minutes away from the entrance to Zion.
This was our second visit to Zion and we came to cross few items off the bucket list. The Narrows, and the Observation Point Hike. Unfortunately, both hikes were closed due to water levels being too high at the Narrows and fallen rock blocking trails for the Observation Point near weeping rock trail head.
That was not going to stop us! We discovered another route that leads you to the Observation Point through East Mesa Trail head!
East Mesa Trailhead
(6.7 miles in and out trail)
Expect rough dirt roads when nearing the trail head. We came across a big ditch near the parking area sedans would have trouble crossing. Luckily, there were enough parking locations in the area, so we didn’t have to cross over.
Park your car off to the sides where others parked and head towards the trail head.
Follow the sign into the trail head and make a right into this gate.
Arriving at Observation Point took us a little over 1 hours. We spent about 1 hours at the location gazing at the view and had our lunch. There was barely anyone there and almost had the whole place to ourselves.
The hike in and out took a little over 3 hours. The route is not as scenic as the weeping rock trail head to Observation Point, but we still enjoyed the hike. This route is perfect for those who wish to see the Observation Point without having to hike the longer 8 miles strenuous path that starts from weeping rock.
After the hike we enjoyed the scenic drive back out Zion and headed to Vegas!
We arrived around 5PM, checked in, threw our bags on the floor, and…
