Day 5: The Grand Teton
The drive down from Yellowstone was very scenic. As the Tetons came in view, it was breathtaking! You quickly realize why they call this place the “Grand” Tetons. The mountains were simply beautiful. We had to pull over and take some photos the moment the mountains were visible. Make sure you stop by at the Jackson Lake Overlook for some breath-taking photos! It’s embarrassing how the iPhone X captures such moment. Pictures do not do this place justice once again.
The heavy clouds set this eerie and majestic mood which happen to be even more amazing to take in.
We drove down Teton Park Road towards Teton Village where our hotel was located. We took the road Moose Wilson Rd (Closed from Nov-May) which was an unpaved small road. Some areas of this road can get pretty tight and contain massive potholes so tread carefully (especially if you’re driving a sedan).
Teton Village had lots of interesting restaurants, but you can also stay at Jackson Hole not too far from the Teton Village. Jackson Hole itself was a very unique town worth exploring. We didn’t have much time, so we only spend around 2 hours there grabbing a bite. I would definitely make plans to spend more time there next time.
Day 5: The Grand Teton
The next morning we checked out these three locations which took most of our day. No rushing just taking everything in at our pace.
Jenny Lake
(Must see)
We drove up the same road Moose Wilson Rd back towards Jenny Lake to catch a ferry to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point.

Hidden Falls & Inspiration Point Trail
(3 miles trail)
The Hidden Falls hike was a nice short hike up the mountain. The ice was still melting when we went so the waterfall was very powerful. Expect to get misted near the fall if you go during snow melt!
Getting to Inspiration Point was a bit tougher due to the steep incline upwards. However, the awesome views of the lake as you climb will make you forget how tired you are.
Once we reached the Inspiration Point, we were rewarded with an awesome view of the lake. This was a nice spot to be inspired.
We continued upwards to reach the Cascade Canyon trail where you turn right. We missed this turn and hiked a good 30 minutes towards the wrong direction. The turn was located where you will come across a small stream of water where you must cross over by stepping on small loose rocks. You must make a sharp right here rather than cross the stream and you will see the trail that will lead you back to the dock.
Once we arrived back at the dock, we took the boat back to town.
We went to grab some ice cream at Jenny Lake store, when we came across some guy who was selling a real grizzly bear fur and claw for $1,750!
Mormon Row
(Must see)
This location has some breath-taking views of the Tetons and the landscape. We thought this place had the best views of the Tetons. You be the judge of that. These iPhone X photos are not able to catch what my eyes and emotions felt. Absolutely, beautiful landscapes all around.
Schwabacher Landing
(1.8 mile in/out trail)
This was our last stop for our one-day visit to the Tetons. The trail is an easy in and out that takes you alongside a river. Unfortunately, the day was too windy to get a nice shot of the Tetons reflected off the lake at Beaver Dam Sunrise. It was still a peaceful walk with the majestic Tetons in sight.
After the hike we stopped by the small turn out to take in the Tetons one last time. Afterwards, it was sadly time to say goodbye.
We had to add something new to the bucket list for when we come back to Grand Tetons!
- Bike ride along the Teton Park Road.
- Explore the north side of the Tetons.
With that we were done and off we go to the Salty City!
