Expense Update (October 2019)
The game is to moderately increase my living standards as my wealth grows now that I am completely reliant on my passive income.
Tracking your expenses will teach you a lot about yourself overtime. You learn about what you value and what’s important to you in your life.
It’s easy to live your busy lives and not realize how you are voting with your dollar. Tracking them once a month brings clarity results in better foresight into how you wish to make adjustments or even plan for your future.
A great free software I use to help track my expenses is Personal Capital.
Let’s take a look at the month of October and see how I spent my resources shall we? 😊
So, let’s get right into it!
Expenses
Taxes: $2,952 – Taxes!
Groceries: $742 – We tried HelloFresh this month. I used a referral link from a friend and ended up paying in total of $13.96 for the 2 meals for the 2 servings plan. That’s about $3.49 per meal! I was surprised how delicious it was! If you wish to give it a spin, use my referral link and get $40 off. Honestly, it’s only a bargain for your first time purchase with the referral bonus. Use the bonus and cancel right away. Unless you value their product and wish to continue. One great benefit about using HelloFresh is the learning experience with new recipes.
Auto (Registration): $232
Shopping: $210 – I saved quite a bit of money this month on some purchases. I purchased a bamboo extra plush mattress topper for $33.48, originally $110! Bought it on sale and used a free $50 visa gift card from AT&T. This topper is amazing for side sleepers! I also had to replace my stupid over priced Winix U450 Air Purifier filter. Word of advice, make sure you research the price to replace air filter before purchasing the air purifier. It normally costs about $100 but was on sale for $86. I used my discover credit card rewards of $21.71 and a gift card from a utility company bringing the final price down to $15. No way in hell I’m paying $100 for a darn filter! 😎
Mobile Phone: $123
Utilities: $158 – Utility expenses drop like a rock every year on October. Amazing how much money you can save if you don’t have to use the air conditioner.
Auto (Gas): $146
Restaurants: $105 – The food I eat at home is so much healthier and better lately, I rarely eat out anymore. However, I do crave a heart attack meal once in a while!
Pictures don’t do it justice! That right there is called the Loaded Adobada Fries. It’s AMAZING. 😍
Home (Maintenance): 104 – Replaced the whole darn patio screen my dog constantly rips a hole in.
Clothing/Shoes: $90 – When you don’t have to work anymore, you will buy more Nikes and Adidas. They are so comfortable to wear at home! Of course I got great deals here also. 😅
Home (Landscaping): $40
Pets/Pet Care: $39 – I also added one of these doggy screen doors in hopes my dog stops scratching a hole on the screen door!
Dues & Subscription: $15
Service Fees: $4
Total: $4,902 (+170.5% from prior month)
Conclusion
The little things in life bring joy to me in my life. I don’t need the fancy things in life. To me the ability to eat anything I want without looking at the price tags is far more fancy than that Mercedes.
To me, enjoying adobada fries during the day while not being rushed back to work is a luxury far greater than any material things.
I never forget how much of a blessing it is to have this financial freedom in my life.
My goal is to continue to build wealth so I can give more. As well as to share more in hopes to have a positive impact among my friends and family.
October has been another blessing month for me. November here we come!
